When Good Meets Evil

At the heart of the Christmas story lies a timeless struggle – the tension between light and darkness, good and evil. It’s a reminder that even in the season of peace, we live in a world shaped by both conflict and compassion.
In this concert, we explore that duality through music. Bach’s Erbarme dich, Gott gives voice to our deepest longing for mercy, love, and hope. In stark contrast, George Crumb’s Black Angels confronts us with the raw, unsettling sound of despair – a haunting masterpiece that delves into the shadows of the human experience.
Yet, as in all the best Christmas tales, light prevails.
We end our celebration with Selma Lagerlöf’s beloved tale The Robin Redbreast, read by the renowned actor Svein Tindberg and set to moving music by Terje Tønnesen. A tender reminder that even the smallest act of kindness can brighten the darkest night.
