Winner of Leonard Bernstein Award and the youngest-ever recipient of Gramophone’s Young Artist Award, Jan Lisiecki is “perhaps the most 'complete' pianist of his age" (BBC Music Magazine), "pristine, lyrical and intelligent." (The New York Times)
At 27, Lisiecki’s interpretations and technique gives him a musical voice far beyong his age. The Canadian pianist joins the NCO to play Chopin’s glorious Piano Concerto No. 1 and 2. Chopin is a focus of Lisiecki’s discography with Deutshe Grammophone, including his new release of the composer’s complete nocturnes. The concert in Oslo is followed by a concert tour to Germany with Lisiecki as soloist.
Fasten your seatbelts as the Orchestra gives its signature memorized performance of Shostakovich’s Chamber Symphony that plunges you into the blisteringly powerful music of war. Blazing colours and raw emotions, led with penetrating visions by our leader laureate Terje Tønnesen.
