Autumn carries many faces. Golden and bright, with vivid colors and crisp air – yet also tinged with melancholy and introspection. Amidst this duality, there exists a space for calm and reflection. This is the space we wish to open with our morning concert: a moment where music paints the moods we associate with the season.

This rich palette is reflected in the program, which moves gracefully between classical gems and timeless song treasures. A highlight of the program is the slow movement from Rachmaninoff’s Cello Sonata in G minor. With its singing cello voice, the music carries both a flowing melody and the heartfelt intimacy for which this composer is so beloved.

We will also encounter music that celebrates nature, reflection, and hope. Evert Taube’s Så skimrande var aldrig havet evokes the power of love through natural imagery, while Stephen Sondheim’s Send in the Clowns invites quiet contemplation of life’s ironies. Henning Sommerro’s Vårsøg reminds us that light always returns, even when darkness feels heavy, and Erik Bye’s Høstvisa captures the melancholy we often associate with this time of year.

Throughout the concert, the music is brought to life by two dear friends and remarkable musicians – our cellist Frida Fredrikke Waaler Wærvågen and pianist Simon Revholt. The dialogue between the cello’s rich tones and the piano’s lyrical voice creates an intimate atmosphere that invites the audience to pause, reflect, and perhaps discover a small spark of joy amid autumn’s wistfulness.
